David is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the British Institute of Facilities Management; he has a wealth of experience in commercial negotiation.  His professional career in defence procurement, civil aviation and the NHS involved him in contracts across all industry sectors in the UK, Europe and overseas.  He now provides consultancy and training services designed to assist clients with securing the best value for money from their contracting activities, whether buying or selling.  He is a consistently highly rated trainer and presenter on public conferences and courses as well as in-company programmes.  In all his training and consultancy, David concentrates on “hands on” practical advice and guidance.


He has taken a wide range of clients through his innovative approach to negotiation training, which is based on individual negotiating styles and behaviour.  He helps people to analyse their own styles and to understand how they can maximise the strengths those styles possess and to minimise the potential damage to their negotiations arising from the negative aspects of the same styles.  He also covers in his negotiating skills workshops the essential ground rules for opening negotiations, managing concessions and drawing negotiations to a close.  The workshops have plenty of interaction, including a role play simulated negotiation, and a sound basis for future personal development action plans.
